LAURYN HILL CHARGED With Failure To File Her Taxes For THREE YEARS!

Don’t mess with the IRS LBoogie!

Why do ppl think they can get away with NOT paying taxes?!  Lauryn Hill has been charged with failing to file three taxes for three years.

She earned $1.6M in income from royalties and performances, but has been charged with failure to file her taxes for 2005, 2006 and 2007.  3 years though?! Really? The charges are directed towards the four companies that Lauryn owns: Creations Music, Boogie Tours, L.H. Productions 2001 and Studio 22.

Each of the three tax charges against Hill carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.  She goes before the judge on Juen 29^th.

Then the producers of the show clearly cut to Chris Tucker who is just as shocked. It’s just hilarious all together. LOL! Hilarious!

On Wednesday, Drake tweeted: “The first million is the hardest.” Well, the billionaire and chairman of BP Capital, T. Boone Pickens who is the 330th richest man in the United States of America retweeted Drake’s tweet and added “The first billion is a helluva lot harder.” SWAG! <– and I don’t even use that word! LOL, Pickens net worth is $1.4 Billion. Drake’s next tweet was a response to Mr. Pickens stating that “@boonepickens stunted on me heavy”.  Lol its cute how technology is connecting ppl that normally wouldn’t be connected.

A Second Chance at a Dream

Brian Banks and parents outside court after his rape conviction was dismissed on the 24th of May.

So my beloved Redskins are giving Mr. Brian Banks a chance. Brian was the high school football star from California that had a scholarship to USC but was accused of rape and kidnapping. He served 62 months in jail and was registered as a sex offender and forced to wear a GPS tracker on his ankle. But last week,  his accuser retracted her story and conviction. Banks is now 26 and a free man who still wants to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL. Recently, NFL trainer, Gavin Macmillan has volunteered to work with Banks in hopes of getting him read for upcoming workouts with teams.  In addition to the Skins, the Kansas Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins are also supposedly interested in him as well.  I hope and pray nothing for the best for this guy. I hope he gets his break.

James Franklin, current head football coach for Vanderbilt and former offensive coordinator for my alma mater, University of Maryland College Park #GoTerps! took to the radio explaining how he determines which applicants will join his staff. On 104.5 The Zone, Franklin explains:

 “I will not hire an assistant coach until I’ve seen his wife. If she looks the part, and she’s a D-1 recruit, then you got a chance to get hired. That’s part of the deal.”

“There’s a very strong correlation between having the confidence, going up and talking to a women, and being quick on your feet and having some personality and confidence and being fun and articulate, than it is walking into a high school and recruiting a kid and selling him.”

He stated he borrowed this theory from the movie “Moneyball” however, since the interview he has apologized via twitter. LOL, SMH Click out here to see his apology.

Justin Combs

So Diddy’s son, Justin received a merit based scholarship to play for UCLA’s football team this upcoming fall. Just maintained a 3.75 GPA while playing cornerback at his prep school in NY.  Apparently, many ppl think that the combs should turn over the $54,000 scholarship to a student that needs it more. UCLA students are calling the athletic department suggesting they reconsider.  In response to the criticism UCLA release a statement explaining the difference between “need based scholarships” and “merit/athletic scholarships”.

“Unlike need-based scholarships, athletic scholarships are awarded to students strictly on the basis of their athletic and academic ability — not their financial need. Athletic scholarships, such as those awarded to football or basketball players, do not rely on state funds. Instead, these scholarships are entirely funded through UCLA Athletics ticket sales, corporate partnerships, media contracts and private donations from supporters,” the statement said. 

Roland Martin, political analyst took to twitter and made the below comments:

“This debate over Justin Combs @jdior son of @iamdiddy getting a UCLA football scholarship is dumb. His dad’s wealth has NOTHING to do w/it!”

“This attack on @jdior_ and @iamdiddy is an attack on hip hop, NOT wealth. Anyone complain when John Elway’s sons got scholarships? I rest my case”

The ladies sit down with VIBE Magazine for an interview and discuss what its really like being on a reality television show. They talk about how they ended up on their shows and why they decided to join.  They talk about the producers setting up drama, and at the end of the day they are responsible for their actions. Most of the ladies said that watching themselves on TV is basically like their therapy. It shows them what they need to continue to work on in order to become a better person.  They were also asked if they think of themselves as role models. LOL! Click here to see what they said.

Basketball Wives Isn’t Going Anywhere!

Yesterday, some ppl might have seen quotes from a press release that gave the impression that VH1 was pulling Basketball Wives from the air. If you read the release closely, it just states that the season finale will air on May 28 at 8 p.m. EST.  Not the SERIES FINALE.  BBWLA returns to the air in August.  Drama sells, its gonna stay on the air as long as ppl keep watching it. So I guess Star Jones can keep going door to door and get more signatures petitioning the show.

VH1s Single Ladies returns to TV on Monday, May 28^th. The acting was painful at times however it was good story plot, very soap opera-ish as far as the drama. But I tuned in every week and can’t wait to see how they explain the fact that Stacy Dash’s character is no longer on the show.  We shall see…

Chuck Brown’s Funeral Arrangements

The Godfather of Go-Go, Chuck Brown.

For those of us here in the DMV, Chuck Brown’s funeral arrangements were released to the public this week. There will be a public viewing for the man known as “The Godfather of Go-Go” on Tuesday, May 29 at the Howard Theatre from 11am and 10pm. A public memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The service is scheduled to start at noon.

The Houston’s Get  Reality Show?!

SMH, Whitney Houston’s family has agreed to tape a reality show with Lifetime.  I have no shame saying that I HOPE THIS FALLS THROUGH AND DOES NOT COME TO LIFE.  SMH, I just want them to grieve properly in private. Why are you getting a reality show? Huh? Didn’t Whitney live enough of her life in the public eye? Why the heck should her moments after her death be publicized too? Gracious, off first thought one has to assume that it’s for financial reasons. I’m not sure and hope not.

BBW, Tami Roman Deletes Her Twitter Account

Apparently Tami couldn’t take the heat this week when it was directed her way via twitter and Facebook. This week’s episode was ridiculous. Tami was out of control and insisted on bullying Kesha who CLEARLY didn’t want anything to do with the drama.  What was even more disturbing was the other three  so-called “women” sitting there letting their one so-called “friend” act like a damn fool.  I’m sorry but when do you realize as an INDIVIDUAL what is happening here is STUPID and I CANNOT BE APART OF THIS?! Clearly that never crossed neither Shani, Evelyn or Suzi’s minds.  I know if my friend was carrying on like Tami was I would have stepped in and DEADED the situation.  These women really need to do some serious self-reflection.

And on another note, Kesha still just wanted to fit in at the end of the day… unless VH1 did some major editing…. WHY ARE YOU SPILLING YOUR GUTS TO EVELYN AND SHANI WHEN THEY DIDN’T STICK UP FOR YOU?!?!? AM I CRAZY?!

No More Games for Tia Mowry & Pooch Hall

What is a sitcom without its two main characters?  ummm …CANCELLED! LOL!!! IDK How BET’s The Game plans to continue its show next season especially since Tia Mowry (Melanie) and Pooch Hall (Derwin) have both stated this week that they will NOT return next season.  BET is saying that its due to Pooch’s new project on Showtime, “Ray Donovan”, however some ppl aren’t buying it for the simple fact that many of the show’s cast members are involved in other projects on other networks.  Idk… sounds like $ problems to me. And whatever happened to the character Kelly?!

5.11.12 Reality Check Fridays

Pilar Sanders Speaks Out on GMA:

Pilar Sanders did an exclusive interview with GMA on Thursday and accused Deion Sanders as using the divorce and custody battle as a way to boost his public image.  The two go back to court next week on May 15^th for a custody hearing regarding their 3 children. Pilar plans to petition the court for full custody.   When asked if Deion was a good father, she responded that “he’s a good provider but hasn’t been a good example of father.”

 “To me, a father interacts with his children on more than just one level, on more than just sports,” she said.  “There was never a question of whether I had full custody anyway.  Deion traveled and he worked all the time and the only interaction he ever really had with our children was during sports, practices or games, so it really was never a question who was the primary parent of our children.” –Pilar Sanders on GMA

Yikes man! This is getting uglier and uglier and it’s really sad.  At what point do both Deion and Pilar take a step back and realize that this cannot continue to play out in the media? Is he not concerned about his image in regards to his current career as an NFL analyst. Or the effect that this is having on their children. Check out the video here.

Terrell Owens on Dr. Phil:

This week Terrell Owens, 6-time NFL Pro-Bowler and father of 4 children sat down with Dr. Phil to discuss his reputation, fatherhood and child support issues.  3 of his 4 children mother’s joined him on the show to confront him on his lack of a relationship with his kids.  At one point in time he was paying $50,000 a month in child support to his 4 kids. But now his financial situation has changed drastically and he can’t afford to continue to pay that much.  On one hand its sad to see someone loose almost everything financially especially when they had so much. But on the other hand what does that have to do with you attempting to have a relationship with your kids? Having no contact with your kids in over a year? Really? SMH cell phones, skype, email…. You couldn’t use any of these means to maintain contact.  One thing that stood out to me is that he had mention to one of his “baby mommas” that he doesn’t know how to be a father. Which is a LOADED STATEMENT. WOW.

Ppl being ppl, started to speculate that he was referring to Rihanna. She then unfollows him on twitter. And in return he unfollows her and then tweets: “Assumptions! I didn’t say any names so if u took offense to it then it’s something you feel guilty about.”

What do you think? Was he talking about her, did she take offense to the lyrics? Who knows for sure… but I’m sure this won’t be the last installment in their soap opera of a relationship/friendship.

New Hobby?

Apparently Serena wants to add “rapper” to her resume. A track surfaces of her rapping. I’m sure (well, HOPE) its all for fun. LOL please listen to this!

I guess when you’re rich you can do whatever you wanna do… I guess rappers are stealing actors jobs, so its only right athletes steal their jobs. Circle of Life… shrugs.

Ladies, you’re prayers have been answered! Starting tonight you’ll get to see Michael Ealy once a week! His new show, Common Law premieres tonight on the USA Network at 10/9C.  The show is about two police detectives that are partners that are incredible at what they do, however they can’t get along with each other. In an effort to save their “work marriage” their captain sends them to couples therapy.

Lol, idk about this description of the show, but I’ll DVR it tonight and let you know if it’s any good.
